Our Lady of Guadalupe

Our Lady Guadalupe also known as the Patron of the Americas. On December 12. 1531 the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to St. Juan Diego who was an Aztec native that gave his life to Christ. During her apparition she requested Juan Diego to tell the Bishop at the time to build a shrine on Tepeyac Hill in present day Mexico City. The Bishop of course in disbelief and requested Juan Diego to provide him proof that it was indeed Our Lady that appeared to him. The proof that Juan Diego gave to the bishop of the apparition of Our Lady was a bouquet of Castilian roses that he picked on top of Tepeyac Hill. Which were not native to the area and it was dead of winter when nothing is in bloom. As Juan Diego present the banquet of flowers the image of Our Lady appear on Juan Diego's tilma. You can still see the exact same tilma today in the shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City.
